Mission

  • To ensure that accused persons otherwise entitled to pre-trial release are not held in custody because of a lack of financial resources or community connections.
  • To assist clients to take steps to address the precipitating factors that contribute to the alleged misconduct and decrease remand populations.
  • To allow individuals the opportunity to participate in culturally appropriate programs such as mental health and substance abuse counselling as well as various cultural programs offered at both the Ininew Friendship Centre and community agencies while released in the community and awaiting trial.
  • To reduce incidents of failures to appear in court, potential breaches of recognizance of bail(court ordered conditions), and the resulting delays through supervision of clients.
